The Heroes Academy Supercharged Certification Ceremony marks the grand finale of our annual programme, celebrating the dedication, growth, and achievements of all participating students. This vibrant event is filled with engaging games, dynamic performances, and spirited competitions, bringing together coaches and participants from various schools to reflect on their transformative journey through the Heroes Programme.
The highlight of Supercharged is the certification ceremony, where qualified participants are awarded a certificate based on strict criteria aligned with the programme’s core values. These criteria include consistent attendance, initiative, noticeable behavioural improvements, and active engagement during workshops. The certification levels are as follows:
Bronze Certificate
Awarded to participants with 70%
to 79% attendance.
Silver Certificate
Awarded to participants with 80%
to 89% attendance.
Gold Certificate
Awarded to participants with 90%
to 100% attendance.
Certificate of Excellence
Only recipients of the Gold Certificate are considered for this award. Nominees are selected by their workshop coaches based on criteria such as significant behavioural growth, initiative before, during, and after workshops, and demonstration of respect, kindness, critical inquiry, caring, and emotional intelligence. The final recipients are chosen after careful deliberation by the organisation.
Performance & Visual Arts Competitions
The Supercharged event includes a performance competition, where participants showcase their talents in singing, rapping, dancing, poetry, acting, and dramatized monologues. Performances are judged on criteria such as readiness, delivery, and messaging.
In addition to the performance competition, Supercharged also features a visual arts competition, allowing participants to exhibit their talents in painting, drawing, and other visual expressions. The visual arts competition will culminate in an exhibition showcasing their work.
Supercharged is more than an event—it’s a celebration of resilience, growth, and the transformative power of socioemotional education. It leaves participants with lasting memories, a profound sense of accomplishment, and renewed hope for the future.
Each year, the winner of the performance competition receives a rare and exciting opportunity: to professionally record their original song in a music studio and have a full music video produced. For many participants, this is their first experience working with professional producers, sound engineers, and video directors. It is more than just a prize; it serves as a stepping stone into the world of music and media, and a powerful moment of recognition for their voice, creativity, and hard work.

Winner of the 2024 Supercharged Performance Competition
The winner of the visual arts competition is awarded an all-expenses-paid excursion to the Cape Town Art Fair, one of the leading art events on the African continent. This experience gives young artists exposure to a wide range of contemporary African and international art, opportunities to engage with professional artists and curators, and inspiration for their own creative journey. For many participants, it is their first time attending a major cultural event of this kind and often sparks a deeper commitment to their artistic growth.
